Phase 8: Completing Your Project

Learn about the other permits you may need in addition to a discretionary planning permit.

What happens

Depending on scope, your conditions of approval may require subsequent ministerial permits and additional materials from County departments and from State or regional agencies before you can inaugurate the use or structure. Read your conditions of approval carefully and coordinate with each department to satisfy its requirements.

What you need

  • Building permits, grading and floodplain permits, OWTS and water-quality approvals, zoning clearances, encroachment, hazardous-materials, and watercourse/well permits as applicable
  • Outside-agency permits where required (e.g., Caltrans, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Army Corps of Engineers, US Fish & Wildlife, CDFW)
  • A careful reading of every condition of approval and mitigation measure
