Phase 3: Pre-Application Review
Schedule a pre-application review with the Discretionary Permit Coordinator and/or the Development Review Committee.
What happens
Pre-application review gives you early County feedback on policies, regulations, and constraints that may significantly affect your project, reviewing your project early can expedite the permit process. It centers on a meeting with the Discretionary Permit Coordinator, and may also include the Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee (APAC) for projects on or adjacent to agricultural land, or the Development Review Committee (DRC) for more complex projects.
What you need
- Your name and a phone number where you can be reached
- The APN(s) of the proposed project site
- A basic description of the proposed project
- Schedule through Permit Administration at (805) 654-2488 and read the pre-application brochure

The Development Review Committee draws key staff from Fire, Public Works, Traffic, Environmental Health, and Planning. The current DRC fee is a flat $2,195.
